HYPE: Comodo.
The minimal electronica of Nottingham-based Oli Shilling, a.k.a. Commodo. was brought to my attention by the man himself with a comment on the blog’s Facebook page. Instantly enamored with something so lush and full of layered, seemingly textured sounds, but delivered in a way that seemed effortless I wanted to know more. As luck would have it, he notified me that his To The Sun EP was to be released today, for free. It’s comparable to the work of big-shot Post-Dubstep instigators Mount Kimbie as well as recently rising New Cross-based Halls, who’s been featured here before, but with a lot less reverb. Tracks like the titular “To The Sun” are ear-catching and involving, drawing you into such an interesting soundscape that you’d wish the EP would last longer than 4 songs. You can download it on the Comodo. bandcamp page. Do it now.
