HYPE: Two Inch Punch
London producer, Ben Ash, AKA Two Inch Punch, plays a mix of dub, soul and love. Growing up on Keith Sweat and Otis Redding, and influenced heavily by the Beatles’s short love songs, it’s not hard to hear this R&B, soul influence. “Love You Up”, has a synth that almost solo’s over the track, giving it a distinct scatty but ordered feel. On the theme of love, “Luv Luv”, reminds me of James Blake’s “CMYK” only more dense. The sweet accordion sounding synth, works timelessly with the what I believe is a flute, which sounds like something out of an old disney film.
You can expect a lot more from Two Inch Punch, who is self releasing a 12″ in March, which will be mastered by the same guy who mastered Daft Punk.
