Transparent today revealed “1981″ by Newcastle outfit Fax Machine, a what a pleasure to listen too. After starting like something from the Black Keys, a fuzzy bass seems to put the track on to a rather different tone. And every turn of the track seems to be a semi-drastic one, it’s as if the sound they’ve gone for is deliberately the sound of not knowing what sound they are, and it works. It’s sure to get everyone’s attention, with a strange take on straight up indie pop.
