merchandise – anxiety door

I didn’t really talk about it, except maybe on twitter, but merchandise’s album children of desire was an incredibly moving and fascinating work that really stood up there for me in 2012. It’s an album that sounds a bit like the smiths, industrialism and crippling despair, yet is also uplifting and life-affirming. it’s worth purchase for the booklet that accompanies, one of the finer liner notes in existence, a sprawling and ambiguous semi-fiction that captures the album in a different medium.

this new song, from a forthcoming ep on Night People, is a thankful expansion of their established sound. stream it below and look out for the release in the spring.
